He was formerly a Principal of both private and state schools for 26 years and also served as Principal Education Officer and Regional Superintendent in the Northern Territory. His professional career was enhanced with lengthy postings to USA and Western Europe.

Peter also held senior executive positions of professional educational associations at regional, state and national levels.

He is widely published on matters of leadership and organisational structure and has presented significant papers to leadership forums within Australia and in Indiana, USA.

He is the developer of contemporary leadership appraisal materials, the first of which was released in 2000 for appraising school leaders. The original package, Leadership Appraisal Module, has since provided the base for the development of materials appropriate for other industries and organisations
